I have some of these side loaded, but I’m really curious about the Go Launcher. Gotta do some research!!! Great article to check out about sideloading.

Great article with pics and video to explain the difference between a Kindle e-reader (with eink) and a Kindle Fire.

I have both as well. Great little combination!
I joined MobileRead (currently just lurking), but there is a TON of great resources for not only the Kindle Fire, but any eReader! Links to free book sites, tons of great information! And the Kindle Fire forum is very active and full of some really bright people sharing their information.
This post is FULL of some great app recommendations and some awesome links to alternative app sites outside of the Amazon market.

Been a bit busy over the Turkey holiday and haven’t linked in any new content for a bit. Thought I would share some semi-random thoughts about my own personal experience thus far with the Kindle Fire.
Overall, I like it! Sure it’s not perfect, but it’s a solid little device for $199. I’m using it for both personal and work related things, so let’s start there and talk about how it is used in my life (which I figure is actually pretty typical).
Personal Stuff:
Nice starting point video to acquaint you with an out of the box Kindle Fire.

Enjoy!
Just discovered this great site that looks to have some awesome potential for talking about the Kindle Fire and maximizing use. Just what I’m after.

This guy is also behind http://www.idownloadblog.com/ regarding iPads and iOS devices so he looks to be setting up some interesting discussion in comparison, etc.
Here are a few of the articles from Kindle Fire Wire that caught my eye.

Also a nice selection of YouTube videos building. Mostly revolving around rooting and alternate launchers.

I’m hearing (ok, more aptly stated as reading) that you can root and switch between launchers to have an android tablet experience or go back to the integrated Amazon UI which has advantages for some things as well. Very interesting and if true, might eventually get me to think about rooting. But not for a while.
Definitely need to try this out. Finding the APKs I want seems to be the most difficult part. :(

(Side note: This forum is starting up a good running list of tips.)
I’d say that this is a pretty fair review. However, I think that by putting a bit of time into maximizing the potential some of the limitations discussed can be overcome.

For the record, my goal is NOT to root the Kindle Fire. I have and will sideload apps, but I do not plan to root. In essence, I want the experience described in this review with Amazon integration - but I want to push a bit further too.
